Digital Storytelling is the art of using images, audio, special effects and sometimes video to tell a story that can greatly enhances the study of a particular classroom topic. It allows students to express what they have learned about a topic in an innovative and creative way.
Students live in a world of multimedia and become excited about learning when they are engaged in an enhanced learning environment. Creating a digital story project promotes critical thinking skills and also enhances writing and organizational skills.
Students will understand how to express their thoughts and tell a story related to a topic they are learning about in the classroom. They will use higher order thinking skills by preparing their story through storyboarding, writing scripts, and the creation of a video product.
A rubric has been included to help guide you through the collection of all the artifacts you will need to share as evidence of completing the module. Also, the rubric is an assessment tool to be used by the designated personnel in your school district to whom you will submit your completed work for CEU credit.

Digital stories can be created using software that allows you to put images and/or video clips in sequence with a soundtrack and voice to create a more powerful story. Listed below are some software applications that may already be installed on the system on your computer or can be downloaded for free.
It is important to make sure your computer has the latest updates so that the software will run properly. Your computer should have at least half of the hard drive space available because the files created tend t to be fairly large.
Also, you will need to make sure you have a recent version of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer in order to read the downloadable files. To download the free software, go to the Adobe’s Reader Web site - http://www.downloadadobe.net/a...
To view videos, you will need to make sure your video software is updated as well. Quicktime is usually best for the Macintosh and Windows Media Player is recommended for Windows (PC). The software should be pre-installed on your computer and will update when you update your computer system. Both video software applications can be downloaded for free if they are not available on your computer.

NOTE: You may want to see the technology support personnel in your school to help you verify or complete all of the software requirements.
Listed below is software that you can use to create a digital story.
iMovie and iPhoto come installed with the Macintosh system.
Movie Maker comes installed on the Windows (PC)system or can be downloaded free at http://www.microsoft.com/windo...
